UAE based Oil & Gas Fabrication Specialists Maritime Industrial Services Co. Ltd. Inc (OSE: MIS) held the official commemoration for the completion of rig refurbishment work on Arabian Drilling Co’s AD-8 rig. The project, worth US$6.5 mn, was completed on time with no Loss Time Accident (LTA) recorded.

The AD-8 project was awarded to MIS as part of the rig inspection process and involved the replacement of corroded legs, the fabrication of BMC type leg sections, hull steel renewal work and piping work. Speaking at the commemoration event, Mr Jumeidi of Arabian Drilling said, “MIS has demonstrated its ability to deliver a quality repair works on Arabian Drilling Company (ADC) jack up Arabdrill-8. This was the second ADC rig repair project that MIS has completed on time and safely. We are delighted to have chosen MIS as our strategic partner in both rig repair projects.”

“The rig refurbishment market continues to be strong due to the large amount of rigs in the area that are 25 to 30 years old,” said Jerry Smith, MIS Managing Director. “MIS believes that the rig refurbishment market will remain strong for several years to come due to the increase in drilling activity.”
